Driving Progress Towards The CommonGood

Matching charitable organisations and community groups with local businesses, as part of the journey towards B Corp status (et al), is the value proposition behind CommonGood. When it came time to integrate Customer Identity as part of their existing SaaS platform, they turned to Cevolution for help.

I first encountered CommonGood during an informal Meetup of the TechExeter group at their March 2026 event. Nikki Fairclough delivered an informal presentation on a fledgling startup that she and her business partner, Sophie Weeks, are building to help local organisations in their local area in their journey toward attaining and maintaining B Corp status.

B Corp status requires certification administered by B Lab — in conjunction with other third parties such as Seismic or Beyondly — where a minimum score of 80/200 on the B Impact Assessment scale needs to be obtained, legal changes to consider all stakeholder impacts are required, and recertification typically occurs every 3 years. CommonGood matches charitable and community organisations with local companies (and vice versa) as part of their progress towards that.

Charitable & Community Matching

With a background in Marketing, Customer Experience, and Events Management, Nikki spearheads the side of CommonGood responsible for building the catalogue of charitable organisations and community groups that companies can connect with.

Linking businesses with charitable organisations and community groups across the UK not only provides for greater impact but is also key for those looking to achieve B Corp status.

Their impact-led CommonGood SaaS platform allows companies, charities and local community groups to subscribe independently. Charities and community groups essentially register for free and can then list jobs that companies — who pay a registration fee based on their subscription tier — can choose to complete.

The platform provides interactive dashboard-style interfaces for job selection, leaderboard and league functionality, and offers comprehensive reporting capability across all aspects of an engagement. Nikki and Sophie oversee platform Design and Development, whilst also leading the Sales & Marketing side of the business and providing expert help and support to those looking to join.

CommonGood’s Challenge

Having started, like many other organisations, by implementing traditional UserID & Password Login, the CommonGood team quickly realised that integrating a comprehensive Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) solution was going to provide more flexibility for their subscribers as well as their business. As Nikki puts it:

Small, medium and large-scale enterprises have started approaching us, wanting the flexibility of SSO together with finer granularity of Access Control for their employees.

So, following an initial conversation at the TechExeter group Meetup, Nikki reached out to me to see if we could do an initial evaluation of their existing implementation, and make some suggestions as to how they could expand their platform capability — particularly in the area of Customer Identity.

Evolving With Cevolution

With our expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM) and building CIAM integrations, coupled with our experience in B2B SaaS solution development, Cevolution has been providing CommonGood with the help and advice they need to make the right choices when it comes to leveraging CIAM.

Working with Peter has been an absolute pleasure, and the team and I have really seen the benefit of the value that his expertise brings across a wide range of our platform design.

Thus far, we’ve explored the benefits of SSO and the positive impact that Social authentication can provide — particularly when it comes to streamlining the registration process for charities and other community groups. Going forward, there’s more to investigate, and we’re proud to be working with the folks at CommonGood: helping them build on the features and capabilities they already have to support the incredible work they’ve done so far.
